Engineering Supervisor Recert

Course Aims

This course is intended to recertificate a delegate with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to set up and manage a worksite within a possession. This includes the management of “on and off tracking” of On Track Plant and train movements within the worksite.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course the delegates will continue to : -
• Demonstrate an understanding of what is required to be in charge of a worksite within a possession.
• Demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding to establish, maintain and give up worksites and authorise the movement of trains into or within the worksite in accordance with Network Rail Rule book and Handbook 12 and 13.

Pre Requisite Requirements

The following pre-requisites are required for this course:-
• Minimum age of 18
• Must hold valid full IWA or COSS (not probationary) and ES competence recorded on Sentinel
• Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements and Specification NR/L1/OHS/051 Drugs & Alcohol
• Have a good level of English literacy

PPE Requirements

This course requires the delegate to be on or near the running line, therefore, they MUST be in possession of: -
• A Valid Sentinel Card
• Protective “all orange” high Visibility Clothing to BS EN 471:2003
• Safety Footwear to BS EN ISO 20345:2004
• Safety Helmet (white/blue) to BS EN 397:1995
• General Purpose Gloves to BS EN388:2121
• Safety Glasses BS. EN.166 and of Optical Class 1 with Impact Resistance F

Certification

This competency is valid for 2 years and will be recorded on the Sentinel database.
